FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions we hear most often about using Wordoops.

Q.How do I delete my account and all of my data?

You can delete your Wordoops account entirely from within the app. There is no form to submit and no need to contact us. Just follow the steps below.

Steps to delete your account

  1. Open the Wordoops app and make sure you are signed in.
  2. Tap the menu button (the three horizontal lines) in the top right of the home screen.
  3. Choose Settings from the menu.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the Settings screen and tap Delete account under Account.
  5. On the Delete account screen, review the list of data that will be erased and tap the Delete my account button.
  6. A confirmation message appears (“Deleting your account / This action cannot be undone. Are you sure you want to delete it?”). Tap Delete to finish.
You can still delete your account if it has been suspended. On the Your account is suspended screen shown when you open the app, tap Delete my account and follow step 5 onwards above.

What gets deleted

Completing the steps above permanently erases all of the following.

  • Your profile (nickname and icon image)
  • Your children’s details (names and icon images)
  • The slip-ups you posted (words, the story behind them, and any attached photos or images)
  • Your remaining posting credits
  • The account information used to sign in

What we keep

We retain the following records after deletion in order to prevent misuse of the service and for auditing purposes. They contain none of your posts or profile details.

  • Records of reports made about posts
  • Records of your inquiries and our replies

See our Privacy Policy for more about how we handle your data.

Please note

  • Deletion happens immediately and cannot be undone. There is no grace period during which it can be reversed.
  • Once deletion completes you are signed out automatically and returned to the sign-in screen.
  • If you sign in again with the same account (Android: Google account / iOS: Apple ID) afterwards, you start over as a completely new user from nickname registration. Your previous posts and children’s details are not restored.
  • Account deletion is unavailable while the service is under maintenance. Please try again a little later.

Q.Can I delete just a post and keep my account?

Yes — posts can be deleted one at a time. Open My Page from the menu, tap Delete on the post you want to remove, then tap Delete again in the confirmation message.

You can also use Edit on the same screen to rewrite a post later.

A deleted post cannot be restored, and it also disappears from everyone’s feed.

Q.How much of my post can other people see?

In Everyone, the only things shown to other users are “What they said” and “What they meant”.

The following are never shared — only you can see them.

  • The story you wrote about the moment
  • Photos and images attached to the post
  • Your children’s names and icon images
Please make sure the words you do share don’t contain personal information such as real names or addresses.

Q.How do I get more posts?

Open Get more posts from the menu and play the rewarded ad (a video of about 30 seconds). Watch it to the end and you can make 1 more post, applied right away.

Closing the ad before it finishes won’t count, so please watch it all the way through.

Q.What should I do about an offensive post or user?

Tap the “…” button in the top right of any post in Everyone and you get two options.

  • Report this post — lets our team know about the content. Reports are anonymous, and the poster will never know you reported them.
  • Block this user — their posts will no longer appear in Everyone.

To unblock someone, go to menu → Settings → Privacy → Blocked users.

Q.How do I change the language?

Go to menu → Settings → Language, where you can change two things independently.

  • Display language — the language used for menus, buttons, and the rest of the app (日本語 / English)
  • Post language — the languages of the posts shown in Everyone (you can select more than one)

Q.Are there likes or rankings?

No. Wordoops deliberately has neither likes nor rankings. It exists to keep your child’s words exactly as they were, not to compete over numbers.
